The current Perodua Myvi is six years old and due for a full makeover. According to MIDF Research, the next-gen Perodua Myvi should arrive in Q4 2017 (October-December 2017).
"Mazda is expected to launch its new generation CX5 within the next two weeks (most of the numbers to trickle in from October) while a big launch, we think, would be Perodua’s new MyVi in 4Q17," MIDF Research said in its automotive sector report last week.
The next-gen Perodua Myvi will likely utilise the latest Toyota Passo/Daihatsu Boon as its basis. Both Japanese models are already in the market. The current Perodua Myvi is available with Toyota’s K3-VE 1.3-litre and 3SZ-VE 1.5-litre petrol engines. The all-new Perodua Myvi will likely have the 1NR-VE 1.3-litre Dual VVT-i engine from the Perodua Bezza, as well as another Toyota NR series engine, 1.5-litre in displacement. Transmission choices should include 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic, going by Malaysian news articles.
Perodua should offer the next-gen Perodua Myvi with features like Eco Idle engine auto stop/start system, electrically folding mirrors, push-start button, 60:40 split rear seats, touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, parking camera and sensors, dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD and BA, VSC, TRC and HSA. The new generation Myvi may feature autonomous emergency braking and lane departure warning too.
