Fiat India launched the Abarth brand in the country with the Fiat Abarth 500. The Fiat 500 is not a new car to India, given that limited volumes of the automotive icon were imported into the country previously.
Powered by a four-cylinder 1.4-liter T-JET engine, the base Abarth 500 packs 135-140 hp (depending on the gearbox chosen). With a peak torque output of 206 Nm, the Abarth 500 races from 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and onwards to a top-speed of 205 km/h.
Features in the Abarth 500 include gas discharge headlights, sunroof, cross drilled brake disc, sports seats, lowered suspension with up-rated springs, 17-inch alloy wheels, 7 airbags, turbo-boost gauge, twin exhaust outlets, ABS, EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution) and HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assistance), parking sensors, foglights and a Hi-fi music system.
Prices of the car will be announced later on this year. Apart from the Abarth 500, Fiat world debuted the Avventura (a crossover based on the Fiat Punto) and announced the refreshed Linea for India.
