Ford has launched the Ford Ranger Black Edition at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The production run will be limited to 2,500 units.
The Ford Ranger Black Edition is based on the Limited series and features a de-chromed body in Absolute Black with a black finish for the radiator grille, alloy wheels, sports bar and exterior detailing. The pickup is available in Double Cab body style only. The double cab pickup truck is 5,362 mm long, 2,163 mm wide (with mirrors); and 1,848 mm tall (unladen). The wheelbase is 3,220 mm. The pickup truck gets a 229 mm ground clearance.

Standard equipment in the Black Edition includes satellite navigation, front parking sensors and rear view camera, Ford SYNC 3 multimedia system with 8-inch touchscreen, dual-zone electronic climate control, leather seat trim, and power-folding + heated door mirrors.

There are two engine options for the Double Cab Limited variant- a 2.2 litre Duratorq TDCI, and a 3.2 litre Duratorq TDCI. The former produces 160 PS of power and 385 Nm of torque at 1,500-2,500 rpm. The latter punches out 200 PS of power, and 470 Nm of torque at 1,500-2,750 rpm. The drive unit is a 4x4, and the transmission options are 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.
On the safety front, the Double Cab Limited features Electronic Stability Control (ESC); Emergency Brake Assist (EBA); Load Adaptive Control (LAC); Hill Descent Control; Hill Start Assist; Trailer Sway Control and Roll Over Mitigation. Side Impact door beams and steel safety cage are standard as well apart from tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). Bookings for the Ranger Black Edition have commenced.
