Skoda has publicized a range of customized accessories for the European Octavia which is at the verge of entering the Indian market.
The 2013 Skoda Octavia will be unveiled in India on August 9 with the launch pushed closer to Diwali. The new D Segment sedan (technically a liftback) will replace the Laura.
Since we've talked just about every aspect of the car over the last year, let's focus on the official accessories that were featured on to the Czech carmaker's Facebook page yesterday. The are aimed at adding more practicality to what is already a very practical car. Note that the availability of these in the Indian market is yet to be confirmed.
The list includes a protective strip on the boot lip to avoid scratches while loading and unloading, a plastic boot dish, a net restraint for the boot, a clothes hanger, Octavia branded door sills with stainless steel inserts, mechanical drive locking system, chrome strip on the boot lid, custom mudflaps, adaptive cruise assistant (enhanced version of standard cruise control), engine Start/Stop button and removable tow bar.
In India, the new Skoda Octavia will have to reckon with the Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Corolla, Renault Fluence, Chevrolet Cruze and VW Jetta. The sedan is likely to come with a 1.4 litre TSI petrol and a 2.0 litre TDI diesel motor.
The previous Octavia which introduced the Skoda brand to India enjoyed the status of a premium car. Skoda would be hoping to leverage on that strong brand image to provide the new Octavia initial traction.
