Game ON! – BMW confirms 1 Series for India to take on the A-Class

Kaustubh Shinde, They say sooner or later your passion finds you. Sometime in late 2009, I started writing for IAB and ever since then it has been a roller coaster ride for me. An amazing experience that has taught me a lot, taken me to new places, driven some great cars and met some amazing people. When you don't find me on IAB (very rarely), you will find me either at a coffee shop or an eatery or at the nearest gadget store. Hope you enjoy IAB as much as we do!

Just yesterday, we brought you a scintillating news of the Mercedes A Class testing in India.

Mercedes has already confirmed the launch of the new A-Class in India when they decided to heavily capitalize of the MFA platform to grow their volumes.

The most obvious competitor of the Mercedes A-Class is the BMW 1 Series. However, considering BMW already sells the Mini brand in India, we thought they will not move a muscle to welcome the A-Class. Boy! were we wrong or what!

Yesterday at the launch of the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe, Mr. Philipp von Sahr, President, BMW Group India, confirmed that he will bring the new BMW 1 Series in India by the end of 2013. More interestingly, he plans to locally assemble the 1 Series to make sure that the little hatchback is very competitive in the market.
