Ranjit Yadav, President – Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, said that the lack of new products have hurt the company which aims to be a podium finisher in the Indian passenger car market.

He further added that no new models were introduced in segments which have been huge volume players (the compact SUV segment and compact sedan segment) in the last 3-4 years; this is going to change in the future. Mr. Yadav did not reveal whether these new cars would be on brand new platforms or on existing platforms.

Yet another testimony to what Tata Motors is capable on the DESIGN front. This design is a decade ahead for the Indian market.

They must keep the overall exterior design to get any traction in this category with several international players. This is probably one of the best designs, but can Tata keep the design elements intact in the final product without busting the 5-6L price point that Indians are willing to pay?

Seeing these solo pictures of Nexon concept, I’m more impressed – higher ground clearance, cab forward stance, wheels at the corners and sleek design. Front picture gives the feeling of more glass area, right amount of muscles at desirable places. Overall, RR Evoque like stance, but curvy. Hope the production version retains maximum influence from concept.
