Will enter its second generation with 2016 model year.
Following the adventure-styled allroad variant of the Avant (estate) version, the next model from Audi to be based on the fifth generation A4 will be its 2-door coupe version - the Audi A5. The second generation 2016 Audi A5 coupe is being readied for market launch later this year and has been spotted testing in China, courtesy PCauto.com.cn.
The second generation Audi A5 coupe will be underpinned by the Volkswagen Group's MLB-Evo platform and likely be around 100 kg lighter than the outgoing model. The all-new Audi A5 should be longer and wider, and have an increased wheelbase. The exterior would be almost identical to the A4, save for the structural changes and a few distinctive styling elements. Inside, the A5 will share almost every part with the A4 models.
The 2016 Audi A5 will be powered by TFSI petrol and TDI diesel turbocharged engines with displacements of up to 3.0-litre and outputs of up to 272 PS (268 hp). Transmission choices may include 6-speed manual, 7-speed S tronic and 8-speed tiptronic. Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive drivetrain configurations will be available to choose from.
