A recent report places the Tata Nexon launch before early September. Hence expect bookings to open in August.

The production-spec Tata Nexon premiered way back at the Auto Expo 2016 held in February 2016. Numerous delays saw the launch pushed to H2 2017. It is Tata's first compact SUV, and appears to be their most striking design yet. At the tape, it is 3,995 mm in length, 1,811 mm in width and 1,607 mm in height. Tata's first sub-4m SUV has a wheelbase of 2,498 mm and a ground clearance of 200 mm. Like all models in its class, the Nexon will not come with a 4WD system.

The interior of top-end models will have a dual-tone beige and black theme with a mix of silver, chrome and gloss black trim panels. Lower-end models will likely have an audio system with Bluetooth connectivity and top-end variants get a 6.5-inch Harman touchscreen system with 8 speakers. Tata could equip dual airbags as standard across the range, while ABS may come from middle variants.

At launch, Tata Motors will reportedly only launch the diesel variant packing an all-new 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel unit. It produces 110 PS and 260 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed AMT. It is claimed to average a fuel mileage of 22 km/L. A petrol variant with a new 1.2-litre Revotron turbocharged mill is in the works, and could launch in 2018.
