The diesel engine is an all-new 1.5L 4-cyl motor.
CarblogIndia reports that the Tata Nexon will launch with a diesel engine option only, similar to the Maruti Vitara Brezza. Given that the demand for compact SUVs is predominantly diesel-powered, the lack of a petrol variant is not going to affect Nexon sales in India in the short-term.
At the Auto Expo 2016, Tata Motors only disclosed technical details about the diesel variant, which will pack an all-new 1.5L 4-cyl motor, that produces 110 PS & 260 Nm of torque. It can be had with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed AMT and can average a fuel mileage of 22 km/L, respectable if you consider the outputs. Tata Motors also confirmed that the Tata Nexon petrol would carry a 1.2L turbocharged engine, although further details were never divulged of this all-new motor.
The Nexon banks on its contemporary, IMPACT-inspired exterior styling to attract the customer. It measures 3,995 mm long and has a maximum ground clearance of 200 mm. Exterior features include projector headlights, a ceramic side finisher, contrast roof, 16-inch alloy wheels, LED taillights and LED daytime running lights in addition to a piano-black grille element.
