Expected to debut at 2017 NAIAS in Detroit in January.

The sixth generation Ford Mustang maybe just months old for India, but globally, it's been around since 2014 and set to receive a facelift next year. While Ford continues testing the 2018 Mustang under heavy camouflage in the USA, enthusiast forum Mustang6G has managed to serve fans with new interesting details about the facelifted model.

The facelifted Ford Mustang will be available with a new 10-speed automatic transmission optionally.

One of the biggest changes the Ford Mustang will see with the facelift will be the discontinuation of the 3.7-liter TiVCT naturally aspirated V6 gasoline engine. This is being speculated because the body type codes for the V6 engine model reportedly come up as invalid in the dealer computer. Interestingly, the rumoured 10-speed automatic transmission now shows up in the options list. The Ford-GM co-developed unit was introduced this year in the Ford F-150. A dual exhaust will also be available optionally, but it's unknown on which variant specifically.

With the MY2018 mid-cycle update, Ford would also offer MagneRide dampers in the Ford Mustang EcoBoost and Ford Mustang GT optionally. The Mustang Shelby GT350 and Mustang Shelby GT350R are already equipped with this damping system. The list of options also includes a "Performance Package 2", which could be a more track-focused package meant to make the Mustang GT a better competitor of the Chevrolet Camaro 1LE package.

The 2018 Ford Mustang (facelift) will be available in two new colors besides some current options: Orange Fury and Royal Crimson. The Grabber Blue which was introduced just last year will be discontinued, but the Kona Blue color of the 2015 Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition makes a return.
