Could be the least expensive sedan in India.
IAB reader, Mr Sasikumar, has photographed a pre-production Tata Kite 5 testing in Coimbatore, ahead of its launch scheduled for this festive season.
It still has the prototype body wrap that tries to hide the Tiago-inspired Sunburst Orange exterior. The Kite 5 made its debut at the Auto Expo 2016, featuring an exterior that borrows the front-end of the Tiago, while the rear-end has a stubby boot, wraparound taillamps and a long LED strip for the third brake light.
The Kite 5 will carryover the Tata Tiago's interior, but finished in a slightly darker shade. Top-end variants have been spotted featuring a Harman touchscreen infotainment system and reverse parking camera. The Kite 5 is confirmed to offer a class-leading boot capacity of 420 liters.

As it's based on the Tiago, expect the hatchback's 1.2L three cylinder Revotron petrol and 1.05L Revotorq diesel options to be offered with the Kite 5. While a 5-speed manual will be fitted as standard, an AMT option is in the works for both the Kite 5 and Tiago.
'Kite 5' is the project's codename, and the car could be called Tata Dribble, Tata Canvas or Tata Ingrid or as per a report that emerged in March.
