Maruti sold 5,563 units of the Vitara Brezza in its launch month of March and in April, it increased to 7,832 units, leaving the Ford EcoSport way behind (3,789 units). The sales could've been higher, but the company is struggling with production capacity. According to a report from CarDekho, the Vitara Brezza's waiting period has increased from 4-5 months to 6 months now.
The original plan was to produce 80,000 units a year, but seeing the very strong response at Auto Expo 2016, Maruti decided to increase the number to 1,00,000. The company's new manufacturing facility in Gujarat, that will become operational in early 2017 and roll out the Maruti Baleno and the next-gen Maruti Swift, could help free-up capacity to ramp up Brezza production. This Diwali, a petrol model powered by the 1.0-litre BOOSTERJET engine is expected, besides an automatic variant of the Brezza that is under consideration.

The Maruti Vitara Brezza is currently available only with the 1.3-litre DDiS four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque and directs drive to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. The ARAI-rated fuel economy figure for the Vitara Brezza is 24.3 km/l. Six grades are available, with prices starting at INR 6.99 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
