Was previously planned to be 80,000 units.
The Maruti Vitara Brezza’s premiere was one of the major highlights in the compact SUV segment at Auto Expo 2016. Maruti Suzuki had planned to produce 80,000 units of its first sub-4 metre SUV annually, but with the expectation developing from the strong response at Auto Expo 2016, that the demand will be much higher than initially expected, the annual production plan was changed. According to a report from Economic Times, the company now plans to produce 1,00,000 units of the Vitara Brezza in the first year.
Last week, 37,000 was the number being reported for the pre-orders of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, and it’s naturally expected to have grown further by now. There’s a 4-5 month waiting period for the Ford EcoSport-rival currently, but production could be increased later, resulting in a lesser waiting time. Apart from the exterior design, the attractive INR 6.99 lakhs entry-level price is what’s keeping the Vitara Brezza high in demand, not to mention the availability of the well-acclaimed diesel engine from Fiat.
The 1.3-litre DDiS four-cylinder diesel engine makes 90 PS (89 hp) and 200 Nm of torque and sends power to the wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. With this configuration, the Vitara Brezza delivers 24.3 km/l. Noteworthy features of the Vitara Brezza include projector headlights with LED daytime running lights, cruise control, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, SmartPlay infotainment system with satellite navigation and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration capability and reversing camera.
