First sub-4m sedan from VW developed solely for India.
Volkswagen will unveil the VW Ameo sub-4m sedan at the Auto Expo 2016 on February 3. The company has dropped a teaser that reveals a portion rear-end of the Ameo, based on which IAB's graphics artist, Shoeb R Kalania, created a render of the car.
The Ameo gets a conventional trunk lid, angular taillamps, 15-inch ‘TOSA’ alloy wheels and beige interior, which is confirmed via a spyshot of the sedan undisguised. The front-end appears to feature a familiar VW face with a long grille directly flanked by large headlamps that appear to be sourced from the VW Polo, with a sharpened nose.
The engine lineup could comprise of the 1.5-liter TDI diesel unit available in 90 PS/230 Nm or 105 PS/250 Nm engine tunes. As of now, it’s unclear which tune will be seen under the Ameo’s hood. A petrol option could have the 1.2-liter three-cylinder MPi petrol engine (good for 75 PS and 110 Nm of torque) and possibly even the 1.2-liter four-cylinder TSI petrol paired to a 7-speed DSG if Volkswagen wants to offer a performance-feel to the drive.
