To rival the BMW X6 xDrive40d.
Mercedes India has confirmed that the Mercedes GLE Coupe will be introduced in India on January 12. Unlike it's more-practical brother, the Mercedes GLE, the GLE Coupe will be imported via the CBU route.
The variant to be introduced is the GLE 450 Coupe AMG Sport that was unveiled at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show in January and at subsequent motorshows in China and Thailand. It packs a 3.0-litre V6 twin turbo petrol engine capable of producing 367 bhp and 520 Nm. It is paired to a nine-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and 4MATIC AWD system as standard.
Later on, Mercedes India could introduce the GLE 350d Coupe, which packs a 3.0-liter V6 twin turbo diesel engine that produces 255 bhp and 620 Nm of torque, and is paired to the same 9G-TRONIC gearbox.
Exterior features include Multibeam LED headlamps, LED taillamps, large air intakes and forged rims as part of the AMG Sport body kit, and diamond pattern grille with a single bold slat. Inside, it is upholstered in premium leather available in dual tone colors, and comes equipped with an 8.0 inch COMAND freestanding display, ambient lighting, and features like DYNAMIC SELECT.

In the Indian market, it will rival the BMW X6 xDrive40d with M body kit, which is also imported into the country via the CBU route. Both the GLE Coupe and X6 slots into a niche sports crossover segment that focuses on performance and looks over everyday practicality.
