BMW India today launched the second generation X6 in the country, at a price of INR 1.15 crores, ex-Showroom.
The X6 in India will be sold in the xDrive40d variant, which is powered by a 3.0-liter in-line six-cylinder TwinPower Turbo diesel engine capable of 313 hp at 4,400 rpm and 630 Nm of torque between 1,500-2,500 rpm, paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission driving all wheels of the SUV.
BMW claims the X6 can hit 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds and achieve a top-speed of 240 km/h. The 2015 X6 also gets the M-Sport kit, which sees sportier looking bumpers, a three-spoke M-Sport steering wheel and M-branded sill plates with illumination.
The second generation X6, based on a new chassis, now features high-strength steels, aluminium and thermoplastics in its construction, making the car lighter by 40 kg overall. However, the X6 continues to offer the 50:50 weight distribution between the front and rear axles.
On the equipment front, the X6 offers LED headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels, paddle-shifters, BMW's iDrive connected multimedia system, leather seats, head-up display, M suspension, a Harman Kardon sound system, reverse camera and a powered tailgate.
The X6 will be imported through the CBU route in India. It is expected to be joined by the performance-oriented X6M later in the year.
