2016 could be the year of the new Innova for TKM.
According to a report on Motorbash, the 2016 Toyota Fortuner, which went on sale in Thailand in July this year, will not launch in India next year.
The publication spoke to Mr. N Raja, Senior Vice President and Director, Sales and Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Ltd., who stated that it would take about 24-30 months to bring the new Fortuner to India. "So that will take it to 2017", Mr. Raja told the publication. Localizing the SUV and vendor development are cited as key reasons for the lead time in launching the second generation Fortuner in India 24-30 months after its premiere.
The Fortuner is available in Thailand with three engine options - a petrol and two diesel. The petrol engine, a 2.7-liter VVT-i is carried over from the previous generation Fortuner, whereas the diesel engines are part of the new 'GD' engine family. They comprise of 2.4- and 2.8-liter units paired to 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions.

TKM could choose 2016 to focus on the new Innova, which is reportedly heading for an unveil this month in Indonesia. The Innova is also the best-selling product for Toyota in India.
