Ford of South Africa have already revealed the images of the new Figo, which will be made at the Sanand plant for domestic and export markets.

Speaking to Indian Autos Blog about the market launch of the 2015 Ford Figo hatch, Mr. Nigel Harris, President and Managing Director of Ford India, said –

It’s a few months later. We’ll do a drive with you guys, its a couple of months away, so there’s a few months gap between the two of them [between Figo Aspire and hatchback].

The 2015 Figo is expected to borrow its engines from the Figo Aspire. These include a 1.2-liter Ti-VCT petrol with 88 PS, a 1.5-liter Ti-VCT petrol mated exclusively to a 6-speed Powershift DCT, and a 1.5-liter TDCi diesel developing 100 PS and 215 Nm of torque.

Save for the bootlid, the Figo hatch will borrow panels and components from the Aspire.

The 2015 Figo will compete with the Hyundai Grand i10, Maruti Celerio, Maruti Swift (lower variants), Chevrolet Beat, and the forthcoming Tata Kite hatchback. The vehicle’s exports to South Africa was announced in May.
