Shares its engine with the Audi S4.
According to a report on Autocar India, Audi will launch the S5 Sportback in the Indian market towards the middle of this year. The S5 Sportback is based on the A5 Sportback available internationally, where the 'Sportback' branding refers to the four doors of the car, as the standard A5 is a two-door coupe.
Currently Audi India sells the RS5 Coupe in India, which is powered by a naturally-aspirated V8 engine. The S5 Sportback though gets its power from a 3.0-liter V6 TFSI engine capable of 333 PS and 440 Nm of torque. Paired to a 7-speed S Tronic gearbox, it can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and hits a top-speed of 250 km/h.
In Audi India's lineup, the S5 Sportback will slot between the S4 and the S6. The S6 was launched in India in July 2013 at INR 86 lakhs, while the S4 was introduced in June 2012 at INR 45.31 lakhs. The S5 Sportback shares its engine with the smaller S4.

The car would be imported through the CBU route and will be a part of Audi's niche portfolio, which recently saw the launch of the A3 Cabriolet. While models like the A3 Cabrio and S5 Sportback may not add serious volumes, they serve as brand-shaping tools for the luxury car maker.
Expected Price: INR 60-70 lakhs, ex-Showroom
Launch date: By mid-2015
