The Audi S6 has just been launched in India at the Buddh International Circuit.
The S6 is the go-faster, performance oriented version of the Audi A6. Here are the headlines.
Power comes from a 4.0-liter V8 TFSI engine producing 420bhp and 550Nm of torque between 1,400rpm and 5,300rpm. 0-100km/h takes only 4.6 seconds while the top speed is limited to 250km/h. A 7-speed S-Tronic DSG transfers power to all four wheels thanks to the Audi Quattro technology.
Thanks to the Cylinder on Demand technology which shuts of four cylinders during low load conditions, the S6 has a claimed fuel efficiency of 9.7 liters per 100km (10.3km/l).
The S6 has a kerb weight of 1,895 kg while being 16mm longer than an A6. On the outside, there is little to differentiate the S6 from an A6 apart from the 19 or 20-inch wheels and the subtle ‘S’ badges.
The S6 finds its competitors in the BMW M5 and the soon to be launched Mercedes E63 AMG (launching on July 25).
With the S6, Audi India has launched two performance oriented cars back-to-back (the previous launch from Audi India was the 2013 RS 5).
