The YRA will be previewed through a concept in 2 weeks.
According to a report on the Business Standard, the rumored 1.0-liter turbocharged engine expected to power the YRA premium hatchback, will not be an all-new unit. It is reported to be a turbocharged version of the K10B engine used on the Celerio and Alto K10.
The 1.0-liter three-cylinder motor produces 68 PS and 90 Nm of torque in its naturally aspirated state on these cars. Engineers will use a turbocharger to increase power and torque outputs, yet maintaining a good efficiency figure, when this engine does duty on the YRA.
The YRA (codename) is set to be previewed through the Suzuki iK-2 concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, which starts on March 3. The publication reports that initially this engine will be used in the export variant of the YRA, and then Maruti would launch it in the domestic market. In the mass market, Tata Motors, Ford, Fiat and Volkswagen are the only brands to offer turbocharged petrol engines.
