The Ford EcoSport might be a long overdue launch, but the compact SUV is gaining ground at a rapid pace.

Ford EcoSport launched in India Mars Red front three quarter

Financial Express reports that according to its sources, the bookings for the EcoSport has crossed 17,000 in just two weeks from the launch. The overwhelming response for the car is sure to delight Ford India which was in a dire need of a turnaround specialist. The interest in the EcoSport also reiterates the fact that Indian’s love mini SUVs.

Not surprisingly, the diesel variants enjoy the highest popularity and dealerships in some cities have reportedly stopped taking bookings for the EcoSport diesel. Mr. Vinay Piparsania, executive director for marketing, sales and service, Ford India, stated –

We have had an overwhelming response and are now consolidating the order list. This is quite high and unprecedented for us at Ford. Dealers have certain allocations. In case that gets over, they will keep the customers informed of when they can expect to book the car and get it delivered.

Even as Ford issued a voluntary recall of the diesel variants of Ford EcoSport, the orders keep piling up steadily. We expect official booking numbers from Ford India in the days to come.

The Ford EcoSport’s price range overlaps with popular premium hatchbacks and sub four metre sedans which enables it to have a wider audience base. It is also cheaper than its main rival Renault Duster by a huge margin.

I own a 1.0 l Ecooboost powered ES which is amazing till now. The power is just amazing. so far no problem noticed. Don’t go by negative reviews. All new cars (even the most renowned ones like Honda and Toyota) have recalled their best sellers after customer complaints. Ford has recalled its Diesel ES proactively. If you are an enthusiast and dream of SUV then this is the best ride on offer as of now. Go for it. If needed I can provide more details.

When too many vehicles hit the road service will be questionable.Soon after production of eco sport they recalled all the vehicles for glow plug issues.Ford is full of production flaws and this would haunt the customers through out.I was one of the first ones to buy a ford
Ikon and had been recalled number of times eventually turmoiled with flaws i sold it after a year

Every car has problems..I would rather appreciate ford for initiating the recall which other OEM’s like hyundai,M&M doesn’t do in earlier launches..

Considering all the pre release hype and the support it received from the media, I was expecting a much bigger figure to be honest. Ford India badly needs a hit to stay put, isn’t?

The high price point for higher variants, the 4 seater cabin space and tiny boot, the long waiting period plus the issues with Diesel variants would hamper sales in the long run. Not to forget the upcoming competitor cars in the same segment.

Now, didn’t the Amaze clock more than 22,000 bookings within 3 weeks of launch? I’d rate that one higher because Ford had already released the car at their showrooms and even allowed test drive 2 weeks prior to the official release.

Went to our local Ford dealer, where a waiting period of various Ecosports was displayed inside the showroom; 1.5 petrol 120 days, 1.5 diesel 120 days and 1.0 petrol 90 days. Even witnessed some tight budget buyers coming for Figo ended up buying ES. however, ES have to deliver its worthiness to their owners in a long run.
BTW any information on Micra Active’s booking?

Ford has a winner on their hands!Between this and the Terrano(which seems like quite an upgrade over the Duster) the Duster’s free run will come to a crawl now.
