New R15 with LEDs and split seats in the works?

If sources are to be believed then there is a new model of the Yamaha R15 is in the pipeline.

Although not much is known about the technical aspects of this bike, there would be some cosmetic changes to it. The new bike could include split seat with rear LED tail lamp. The rear section of the bike is also expected to undergo some changes.

The company, some sources claim, has halted production of the existing version as it is about to bring in the new R15.

Is this the Auto Expo candidate for Yamaha?

The news is nothing but a baseless rumor. Yamaha will not be unveiling a new r15 in 2010 other than limited editions versions which would be different only in color scheme (body, wheel & silencer, like the limited edition white). Yamaha is concentrating more one the fast moving FZ series than on R15. Approximate monthly average sales figure of R15 is 1200, Yamaha has not halted production of R15 but production have slowed a bit because of some restructuring in production and supply chain. People expecting a new R15 in 2010 with serious changes will be disappointed

@Pradeep-Yamaha have introduced the 2010 edition of R15 but it only has a new Red-White color scheme. NO change in the technical specs. They displayed this bike at the 2010 Auto-Expo.
As of now, it does not look as if an upgraded version is happening any time sooner.

  6. [...] A new R15 heading to the Auto Expo next month? [...]

@Akash- As of now this all the info we have. All i can say for now is that we would have to wait for sometime to get more info on this.
I dont think that R125 was ever on the cards to be launched here. One more info I have is that the new R15 will have its engine manufactured in India itself( We all know that it was being imported until now). But this wont result a drop in its price.
A 250cc bike is also expected but that would be later in the year 2010.

    Hey Nazish…

How can more info be extracted abou this ?
And what are the expected changes ?
I think instead of launching the R125,they are improving the R15 itself as the technical specs of both the bikes are nearly same…
Wat do you have to say on this ?

  9. Raaka says:
