IAB reader photographs a camouflaged Tata Hexa prototype - Spied

A camouflaged prototype of the Tata Hexa has been photographed near Pune by Bhuvan Chowdary. The SUV is reported to launch in June 2016 replacing the Tata Aria.

The Tata Hexa will be powered by the VariCOR 400 diesel engine that is doing duty on the higher variants of the Tata Safari Storme.

The Hexa is based on the Tata Aria MPV. It was unveiled as a concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and its production version was presented at the Auto Expo 2016 last month. Set to go on sale in the coming months, the Tata Hexa will compete with the Mahindra XUV500 and the Ford Endeavour 2.2L Trend.

The Tata Hexa is a seven-seater that measures 4,764 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, 1,780 mm in height and 2,850 mm in wheelbase. It will be offered with the familiar VariCOR 400 2.2-litre diesel engine which powers the higher variants of the Tata Safari Storme. The engine is capable of producing 156 PS of maximum power and 400 Nm of peak torque.

The Tata Hexa will be offered in manual as well as automatic variants and in RWD and AWD versions.

The Hexa will be available in Rear Wheel Drive and All Wheel Drive configurations, with options of six-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmissions. The SUV will have a Drive Mode Selector to switch between four settings - Automatic, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough-Road.
