Tata Motors has confirmed that it will launch the Tata Nexon in India in September. The company says that it has received a very favourable initial response for this model, without specifying the number of bookings.
The Tata Nexon is Tata Motors' first production B-segment SUV. Introduced as a concept vehicle at Auto Expo 2014, it is finally now that the model is commercially ready. The Nexon is a critical launch for the company not just because it fills the void in the booming compact SUV space, but also because it debuts two new engines in the portfolio. These are the 1.2-litre Revotron turbocharged three-cylinder petrol and 1.5-litre Revotorq turbocharged four-cylinder diesel units.
The 1.2-litre petrol engine develops 110 PS at 5,000 rpm and 170 Nm of torque from 2,000-4,000 rpm. The 1.5-litre diesel engine produces 110 PS at 3,750 rpm and 260 Nm of torque from 1,500-2,750 rpm. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard. However, an AMT option is confirmed to follow in a couple of months. There are three modes the driver can choose from, City, Eco and Sport.
Projector headlamps with LED DRLs, power adjustable and retractable ORVMs, 16-inch alloy wheels and LED tail lamps are the exterior highlights of the Tata Nexon. On the inside, the compact SUV features start-stop button, three-tone dashboard, automatic climate control system, rear AC vents and infotainment system with 6.5-inch HD touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration compatibility and navigation.

The Tata Nexon's production commenced at the Tata Motors-FCA India JV plant in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra in July. Dealerships have started taking pre-orders officially now. The Tata Nexon will compete with the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300.
