The Maruti Vitara Brezza was launched in India in March 2016. In March this year, Maruti Suzuki announced that it had sold 1.1 lakh+ units of the B-SUV since. Now, as per IAB's estimate, this figure has crossed 1.5 lakh units.
From January to June this year, the monthly sales was 8,932, 10,046, 10,057, 10,653, 12,375 and 8293 units. On an average, 10,059 units were sold per month during the first half of the year. The fall in sales last month was due to the anticipation of reduced prices post GST implementation.
With GST now in place and the festive season up ahead, the demand is projected to go back to 5-digit numbers. The prices were slashed by up to just INR 2,148 with the rollout of GST.

The Maruti Vitara is powered by the 66 kW (88.47 hp) 1.3-litre DDiS 200 diesel engine. Like the engine, a 5-speed manual transmission is standard. Its fuel economy is rated at 24.3 km/l. There are six different configurations available, with prices ranging from INR 7,23,962 (ex-showroom Delhi) to INR 9,91,068 (ex-showroom Delhi). The introduction of a petrol engine option should lower the starting price and boost the sales.
