Beijing-Hyundai will launch the updated 2017 Hyundai ix25 (the facelift of the Chinese Hyundai Creta) on August 25 at the Chengdu Motor Show, according to a report from Auto Home. The facelift features soft exterior updates with a new engine option.

The Hyundai ix25 facelift only gets changes to the plastic body parts.

As evident from the first images published in June, the ix25 facelift gets a new front fascia with winged bumper design. Enlarged top corners of the grille extend to the headlamps. However, it does not have the 'Cascading' design that has become a staple of all new and updated Hyundai products globally.

Changes to the rear end include updates to the tail lamp detailing, a stepped bumper with underbody guard, and smaller reflectors. While the changes made to the Hyundai ix25 for China are similar to the Hyundai Creta sold in Brazil, there are still subtle differences between the two. Expect the India-bound 2018 Hyundai Creta facelift to carry similar changes.

The 2017 Hyundai ix25 will drop the range topping 2.0 L petrol in favour of the 1.4 L turbocharged engine, Chinese media reports.

The Creta launched as the Hyundai ix25 in China in October 2014. It is on sale with 1.6 L petrol and 2.0 L petrol engines. With the launch of the 2017 model, the ix25 will drop the 2.0 L petrol. It is reported that Hyundai will bring in place a 1.4 L T-GDI turbo petrol engine that produces 130 hp and 211 Nm. The 125 hp 1.6 L petrol will continue unchanged.
