Skoda is extensively testing the Skoda Kodiaq in India ahead of its local launch this September. Reader Prashant Magdum spotted the Skoda Kodiaq in Pune in one such occasion.
The Skoda Kodiaq is the company's second take in the SUV class after the Skoda Yeti. Based on the MQB platform, the Kodiaq is the first large SUV from the Czech brand. It is also the first model to incorporate the new SUV design language introduced by the Skoda VisionS concept. It will compete with the Hyundai Santa Fe, Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner and the likes in India.
The Skoda Kodiaq is 4,697 mm long, 1,882 mm wide and 1,676 mm tall, has a 2,791 mm wheelbase and a ground clearance of 187 mm. It is available in 5- and 7-seat seating layouts internationally. The Indian-spec version will have seven seats as standard, though.
It could be sold in 132 kW (176.94 hp) 2.0-litre TSI petrol and the 140 kW (187.67 hp) 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine models. 7-speed DSG transmission and an all-wheel-drive system should form the core mechanical carriage in these engine models.
