Will go on sale in FY2019 and compete with the Hyundai Creta.
As we have known since last year, Mahindra is developing a new B-SUV based on the SsangYong Tivoli's X100 platform. This model, which goes by the codename 'Mahindra S201', will have an exterior and interior styling different from the SsangYong offering, says an Autocar India report.
The Mahindra S201 will arrive in India as the third monocoque platform-based passenger vehicle from the company after the Mahindra XUV500 and the Mahindra KUV100. Mahindra and Pininfarina could collaborate for the visual differentiation to make the S201 unique and give it the family design traits.
The Mahindra S201 will have a length exceeding four metres. It is expected to have premium features like dual-zone climate control, seven airbags, leather interior, ESP system and more that would help its case in positioning it as an upmarket model competing with the Hyundai Creta and even the Renault Captur arriving this year.

In April it was reported that the Mahindra S201 will share a Mahindra-SsangYong co-developed 1.6-litre diesel engine with the Mahindra U321. The latest report says a smaller 1.5-litre diesel engine is more likely due to the lower GST rate. A petrol engine is a given, as M&M has announced an investment of INR 1000 crore last year to equip future models with the other fuel option. The Mahindra S201's launch is officially confirmed for the second half of FY2019.
