Petrol engine lineup to include new 1.2L, 1.5L and 2.0L engines.

Speaking to Autocar India, Dr. Pawan Goenka, executive director of Mahindra and Mahindra has confirmed that all Mahindras launched from 2018 will offer a petrol engine option.

A new 1.5L petrol engine is currently being developed, which will soon be available for the Mahindra TUV300.

Dr. Goenka was quoted saying:

Any product that we launch from a year after will come with a petrol engine. We are currently working on a 1.5L petrol engine. So the petrol engines powering the future vehicles will be either of the three: 1.2L, 1.5L or 2.0L.

Although the Supreme Court has lifted the ban on registration of diesel vehicles with engine capacity over 2,000 cc in Delhi-NCR, the uncertainty of diesel tech and narrowing price gap of diesel and petrol fuels has contributed to the shift in demand for petrol-powered vehicles.
