BMW 5 Series GT successor arrives with a new name.
BMW has unveiled the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo as the successor to the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo. Here's a visual comparison of the two BMW 5 Series-based coupe-styled executive saloons.
The BMW 6 Series GT measures 5,091 mm in length, 1,902 mm in width and 1,538 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3,070 mm. Thanks to the CLAR underpinnings, the 6 Series GT is up to 150 kg lighter than its predecessor.
The designers have given the 5 Series GT successor more dynamic proportions by stretching the body 87 mm and lowering it by 21 mm. Improved aerodynamics have reduced the drag coefficient from 0.29 Cd to as little as 0.25 Cd. The width and wheelbase are no different to the model the 6 Series GT replaces.
The 6 Series GT offers more practicality with 610 litres (+110 litres) of boot capacity, 1,800 litres (+100 litres) of maximum load space and increased maximum width (+25 mm) and length (+185 mm) of the load area. The interior looks nearly identical to that of the latest BMW 5 Series.
