India-bound Renault Kaptur completes 1 year on the Russian market

Will go on sale in India this festive season.

The Renault Kaptur had its global debut in Russia in March last year, a month after which its production commenced in Russia. On 27 April 2017, the Renault Kaptur completed one year of production in the country.

The Renault Kaptur was launched in Russia in June. Despite the decline in annual sales by 10.8%, Renault's market share in Russia increased by 0.7% to 8.2%, credit to the highly successful Kaptur which sold some 14,600 units by January this year. Announcing the production anniversary last month, Renault Russia said it had sold more than 20,000 units of the compact SUV.

The Renault Kaptur, known as the Renault Captur in Latin America, measures 4,333 mm in length, 1,813 mm in width, 1,613 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,673 mm. It has a ground clearance of 205 mm. It's available with a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which produces 114 PS and 156 Nm of torque and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which develops 143 PS and 195 Nm of torque. The 1.6-litre engine model is available with a 5-speed manual transmission and the X-Tronic continuously variable transmission, and the 2.0-litre engine model is available with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 4-speed automatic transmission.

The Renault Kaptur is expected to launch in India as the 'Renault Captur' this festive season. Renault India could offer it with the 106 PS 1.5-litre H4K petrol engine and 110 PS 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine from the Renault Duster. Prices are expected to fall between INR 10 lakh and INR 13 lakh (ex-showroom).

A 7-inch MEDIANAV touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control and body-coloured interior accents are some of the expected features of the five-seater.
