Expected to launch around Diwali.
IAB reader Shanky has spotted a camouflaged Renault Captur on test in Chennai, ahead of its expected launch this Diwali.
Unlike the Clio-based Captur manufactured in Europe, the India-bound Renault Captur will be based on the Duster's platform, which is also sold in Brazil and Russia (as the Kaptur). It is slightly bigger than the Clio-based Captur, measuring 4,333 mm in length, 1,813 mm in width and 1,613 mm in height, and has a wheelbase measures 2,673 mm. As previous spyshots have revealed, the India-made Captur will offer the option of dual tone colour schemes.
Inside, the Kaptur is expected to come equipped with a 7-inch Media Nav 2.0 infotainment system with inbuilt GPS navigation, cruise control, automatic climate control, automatic headlights, fog lights with cornering function, leather upholstery and reversing camera. The Captur will be a strict five-seater.

As for engine options, the Captur diesel will pack 1.5-litre dCi four cylinder diesel mill with 110 PS and 245 Nm, while a 1.6-litre petrol producing 104 PS of power and 148 Nm torque could be offered in the petrol variant. Transmission options may include a 6-speed manual, while the Duster's Easy-R AMT could be dropped for a DCT automatic gearbox to better suit its premium positioning.
