Maruti Suzuki unveiled the 2017 Maruti Dzire on Monday and will launch it in India on 16 May 2017. The company hasn’t revealed prices of the all-new model yet, but dealerships IAB spoke to expect the new model to retail at INR 50k-70k higher than the outgoing model’s price. The previous generation model, which is also available with a discount to help clear stock, is priced between INR 5,35,483 and INR 8,57,534 (ex-showroom Delhi).
The 2017 Maruti Dzire is based on the company’s lightweight and rigid ‘Heartect’ platform and up to 105 kg lighter than the previous generation model. The redesigned model measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,735 mm in width and 1,515 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,450 mm. It’s 40 mm wider and 40 mm lower and has a 20 mm longer wheelbase compared to the outgoing model.
Maruti Suzuki offers the 2017 Maruti Dzire with the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines from the outgoing model. The 1.2-litre petrol engine produces 84.3 PS and 115 Nm of torque and the 1.3-litre diesel engine develops 75 PS and 190 Nm of torque. Transmission choices include 5-speed manual transmission and 5-speed automated manual transmission. The vehicle continues to miss out on the mild-hybrid tech
The current model has a fuel economy rating of 20.85 km/l (petrol)/26.59 km/l (diesel). The significant weight reduction should help Maruti increase the car’s mileage by at least 5%.
Equipment highlights of the 2017 Maruti Dzire are, automatic LED headlamps with daytime running lights, 15-inch alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, two-tone beige/black interior scheme, 7-inch SMARTPLAY touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink and rear HVAC vents.
Bookings of the 2017 Maruti Dzire will officially open next month, but dealerships have already started accepting pre-orders unofficially at INR 5,000.
