The next generation Scorpio will be based on an updated ladder-frame platform of the current model, says ET.

The report states that the next generation Scorpio will be based on an updated ladder-frame platform of the current model. The task of conceptualising the new Scorpio will be tasked to by Mahindra’s North American Technical Center, while the engineering, integration and testing will be handled by the R&D centre in Mahindra Research Valley, Chennai. It is said to be developed with international markets in mind, so expect a contemporary exterior styling and advanced telematics and safety features.

Like the current Scorpio, the next-gen version will spawn a pick-up truck that will mainly target the North American market, where this body type is the most popular in the world. Expect both diesel and petrol 4-cyl engines to be in the mix with manual or automatic transmissions. A 4WD system with terrain modes could also be developed for the new Scorpio, and so could an electric variant with technology from the Mahindra Electric division.
