Tata Motors’ new sub-brand Tamo will unveil its first product named ‘Tamo Futuro‘ at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show tomorrow.

The Tamo Futuro will showcase the company’s advancements in connected car technologies.

From the information officially released so far, it seems that the Tamo Futuro concept won’t just preview a future sports car, but also a host of connected car technologies aimed to make the company future-ready. Billed as the country’s first connected car, the Tamo Futuro concept is, reports say, a mid-engined sports car like the Opel Roadster, Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice. While the connected car tech is unlikely to appear in the company’s production cars anytime soon, a road-ready model derived from the concept will reportedly hit the market next year at a price of INR 25 lakh.

No specific details about the Tamo Futuro are available yet. Some reports say that it will sit on a new platform co-developed by the company’s Engine Research Centre in Pune, India and Tata Motors European Technical centre based in Coventry, UK, while some say the Tata Bolt and Tata Zest’s Tata X1 platform will form the basis. Under the hood, a 1.2-litre twin-turbo petrol engine with a potential to deliver over 180 bhp will rest.

The Tamo Futuro will reportedly see a limited production run, meaning that it will serve as a halo product for the company. Tata Motors won’t make it at the facilities where it builds the current mass-market models.
