Launched in India in 2009.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced that sales of their best-selling SUV - the Toyota Fortuner - has crossed 100,000 units, since it was introduced to the market in 2009.
Speaking on the new milestone, N Raja, Director & Senior Vice President, Marketing & Sales said:
Being able to serve more than one lakh happy customers in such a premium and competitive segment, is a huge achievement for us. This would not have been possible without the support of our customers who have appreciated the product so much.
Much of the Fortuner's success is attributed to its pricing, for which buyers get a large 7-seat SUV with loads of road presence, Toyota's famed reliability, good low-end grunt from its diesel lineup of engines and high resale value. Although the Ford Endeavour was the first to establish the ladder-frame based SUV segment, the Fortuner is the product that catapulted the segment to fame, and lured manufacturers like Chevrolet, Mitsubishi, Isuzu and Ssangyong to enter.
