Yet to receive confirmation from VW India.
According to new web reports the range-topping VW Polo GTI hot hatch will launch in India next month. VW India has not yet announced a launch date, since showcasing the car at the Auto Expo last February.
The Polo GTI has been spied testing on multiple occasions in India. It is expected to cost INR 17-20 lakhs (ex-Showroom), and will slot between budget hot hatches like the Punto Abarth and expensive, imported performance cars like the Mini Cooper S or Abarth 595 Competizione.
Under the hood is a 1.8L TSI four-cylinder turbopetrol engine that produces 189 hp and 250 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed DSG gearbox with steering-mounted paddle shifters. It is capable of sprinting from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 236 km/h.
