To launch in India later this year.
A 3-door VW Polo GTI has been spotted testing with smaller wheels in Pune, as seen in spyshots from Autocolumn. It is expected to launch later this year, and will be sold as a CBU product.
The highlight of the VW Polo GTI is the 1.8-litre TSI four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 189 hp & 250 Nm of torque, which is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. It is capable of reaching 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 236 km/h.
With this much power to tap and an expected price tag of INR 17-20 lakhs (ex-Showroom), the VW Polo GTI bridges the gap between budget hot hatches like the Punto Abarth and expensive, imported performance hatchbacks like the Mini Cooper S or Abarth 595 Competizione.
