Tiago Sport and Tiago AMT planned for future launch.
In an interview with the Economic Times, Mr. Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicles, Tata Motors revealed that the company has received 50,000 bookings for the Tata Tiago.
Mr. Pareek said -
We launched Tiago on 6th April and ever since, months after months, it is continuously increasing, we just have more than 50,000 bookings. Every month, the number we are touching is around 5,000 and as I said, 50,000 bookings, the waiting period on particular variants, is more than four months.
The Tata Tiago is presently sold only with a 5-speed manual transmission, though the company confirmed that it was working on an automated manual (AMT) variant as well. The 1.2-liter three-cylinder all-aluminium Revotron engine develops 85 PS and 114 Nm of torque whereas the 1.05-liter three-cylinder Revotorq diesel engine churns 70 PS and 140 Nm of torque.
According to reports, Tata is also working on a Tiago Sport which will see the 1.2-liter unit getting a turbocharger and a power output of around 120 PS. The Tiago Sport will be introduced instead of the Bolt Sport which was showcased at this year's Auto Expo.
