Will be Genesis' entry-level sedan.
Hyundai Motor Group's luxury brand Genesis is developing a new sports sedan named Genesis G70 that was confirmed late last year and previewed by the Genesis New York Concept at the 2016 New York International Auto Show in April. In the latest, tuning specialist Blood Type Racing has shared a spy shot of a Genesis G70 engineering mule from South Korea.
The spy shots show that unlike the concept from which it will evolve, the Genesis G70 doesn't feature a fastback profile and instead, settles for a conventional three-box design. The C-pillar has also been tweaked accordingly and at the rear, there's an exposed, circular dual-tip muffler in copper finish, probably a part of the test equipment.
Concrete details about the Genesis G70 are scarce, but one thing that's known for sure, is that it's going to be based on a rear-wheel drive platform that will underpin the Kia GT as well. Peter Schreyer, President and Chief Designer at Hyundai Motor Group, confirmed last year that all Genesis model will be underpinned by a rear-wheel drive platform that will lend the cars a more premium style proportion.

The Genesis G70 will be made in both left-hand drive and right-hand drive versions to have a global vision. It could be offered with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine as well as a 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine depending on the market. Additionally, the 2.0-litre petrol-electric hybrid powertrain of the New York Concept's heart could also be employed in the G70.
The Hyundai Motor Group is developing multiple new four-door cars for 2017, including the next-gen global spec Hyundai Verna, Hyundai Grandeur/Hyundai Azera, Kia Rio sedan, Kia GT, and the Hyundai Xcent facelift.
