List of 10 car launches in India this month - IAB Picks

Ahead of the upcoming festive season, several manufacturers are lining up to launch new cars as well as new variants of existing models in India. Here are ten car launches that are confirmed or reported to launch this year.

1. 2016 Audi A4

The all new 2016 Audi A4 is confirmed to launch in India on this September 8. At launch, the fifth gen A4 will only be available in the 30 TFSI petrol variant, which packs a 1.4L TSI engine paired to a 7-speed S-tronic gearbox.

2. Honda Brio facelift

One of IAB's readers has managed to snap the facelifted Honda Brio at a HCIL dealership, suggesting that its launch date is nearing. Revealed in Indonesia in April, the front-end and its dashboard have been thoroughly facelifted for a sportier look.

3. Hyundai i20 AT, i20 with 6 airbags

Hyundai has silently equipped the top-end Hyundai i20 Asta (O) variant with side and curtain airbags as standard. It is now priced at INR 7.76 Lakhs and INR 8.99 Lakhs for petrol and diesel variants respectively (Ex-showroom Delhi). In the coming days, Hyundai will roll out the automatic variant for the first time. It is powered by a bigger 1.4 MPI engine paired with a 4-speed automatic. The Hyundai i20 automatic will only be sold in the Magna grade.

4. 2016 Jaguar XF

Jaguar Land Rover India is expected to launch the second generation Jaguar XF in India this month. It will be available with 2 four-cylinder engine options in India: 20d and 25t. Both are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission routeing power to the wheels. It is likely to be launched as a CKD model, so as to keep prices competitive.

5. Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler

Sales of Jeep products have commenced from its sole dealership in Ahmedabad. Jeep will expand the network to 10 major cities before the end of this year. Only three products are available at this time: the Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee SRT and Wrangler.

Prices for the Grand Cherokee range between INR 93.64 Lakhs to INR 1.12 crores (ex-showroom), while the Wrangler is only available in the 4-door Summit variant with a price tag of INR 71.59 Lakhs (ex-showroom).

6. Mahindra Bolero Power+

A leaked image featuring a new variant of the Mahindra Bolero has been making the rounds lately. It's unclear if Bolero Power+ is the rumored sub-4m Bolero or a facelifted model. It is reported to pack the 1.5L three cylinder mHawk diesel engine from TUV300, although detuned for better fuel efficiency.

7. Maruti Swift Deca

Following its unveil as a one-off custom Maruti Swift at the last Auto Expo, Maruti has made it available to interested customers from this month. Called the Maruti Swift Deca, it is based on the VXI/VDI grade and gets a few exclusive features. It is priced at INR 5.94 lakhs for the petrol and INR 6.87 lakhs for the diesel variant (ex-Showroom, New Delhi).

8. Porsche 911 GT3 RS

This month, Porsche India sold the first-ever Porsche 911 GT3 RS in India. It's now available on a made-to-order basis, although its price has not been disclosed yet. It's the most track-focused 911 in the 991 product range, powered by a 4.0-litre, flat six engine that makes 500PS of power and 480Nm of torque.

9. Toyota Etios facelift

Toyota is prepping a comprehensive facelift for the Toyota Etios and Etios Liva, which is reported to launch on September 13. It was recently spotted at a dealership, revealing all the changes in toe. It gets a new front-end, revised rear-end and a slightly updated interior.

10. Volvo XC90 T8 Hybrid

Volvo Auto India has confirmed that the range-topping Volvo XC90 T8 Hybrid will be launched in India on September 14. It will be sold in the top-end Excellence grade. featuring 4-seats, exclusive upholstery options and a whole host of other new equipment. The T8 Hybrid combines a 320hp 2.0L turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder petrol engine with an 87 hp electric motor, thus producing a total output of 407 hp. It is capable of cruising in all-electric mode for 40 km.
