Expected to launch this month.
Several Renault dealerships have begun accepting bookings for the Renault Kwid 1.0L, ahead of an expected launch in August-September. The variant in question is the Kwid 1.0L 5MT, for which dealerships are promising delivery by October, according to a report from Autocar India. However, a Renault dealership in Chennai denied the start of bookings for the Kwid 1L.
An AMT variant is also in the pipeline, which is expected to launch at a later stage. As of now, Renault haven't provided the technical figures of the Kwid 1.0L, although the 1.0L three cylinder SCe engine is expected to churn out 65-70 hp. The fuel efficiency is likely to be slightly lower than the Kwid 0.8L's 25.17 km/l average.
The exterior and interior of the Kwid 1.0L will be identical to its less powerful sibling. An important upgrade expected in the 1.0L variant is dual airbags as an option, while an ABS may be in the cards. Renault India has assured that the Kwid will far exceed the Indian safety norms in 2017.
