Powered by the 1.4L Gamma VTVT paired to a 4-speed torque converter.
Sources have divulged to IndianAutosBlog that the Hyundai i20 automatic variant will launch in India within 7-10 days. This follows the unveil of the India-made Hyundai i20 automatic at the 2016 GIIAS in Indonesia.
Surprisingly, the i20 automatic will pack the bigger 1.4L Gamma VTVT petrol engine that produces 100 PS and 130 Nm of torque. It will be paired to a 4-speed automatic gearbox exclusively, and will be the only hatchback in its segment to feature a conventional torque converter.
The Hyundai i20 AT will compete against products like the Maruti Baleno CVT, Honda Jazz CVT and the VW Polo GT TSI with a 7-speed DSG. The variant break-up has not been revealed, though at least two variants (Sportz and Asta) are on the anvil.
