Hybrid variant planned for the Indian market.
Team-BHP reader, Ashray Bakhru, has spotted the new Honda Accord testing in India for the first time. The ninth generation flagship is expected to launch during this festive season.
The India-spec Honda Accord will be launched in its facelifted form, which made its debut in July 2015 as well as showcased to the Indian public at the Auto Expo 2016. It features new headlight and taillight clusters with LED technology, a more sculpted aluminium hood, new 17-inch alloy wheels and redesigned front and rear bumpers.
The Accord will be offered in conventional petrol and hybrid variants according to reports. The former could be powered by a 2.4-liter direct-injected i-VTEC engine, while the latter features a 2.0-liter inline four cylinder gasoline engine assisted by an AC Synchronous Permanent Magnet electric motor that gives a combined system output of 196 hp. Both variants could be paired to CVTs with steering mounted paddles as standard.

With the introduction of a hybrid variant, the popular Toyota Camry Hybrid will have a rival in the form of the ninth generation Honda Accord. Various government schemes and tax incentives for hybrid vehicles will help Honda Cars India price the Accord hybrid competitively.
