Speaking to Business Standard, Mr. Sumit Sawhney, country CEO and Managing Director of Renault India, confirmed that the company will start exports of the Renault Kwid to SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) countries this year. Post this, the India-made Kwid will also be exported to South American markets in parts and components form.
For the South American market, Renault is planning of conducting a local debut for the Kwid during the Sao Paulo Auto Show which is scheduled to take place in November 2016. According to reports, the small car will be assembled at the Resende Industrial Complex near Rio de Janeiro from SKD (Semi-Knocked Down) kits shipped from Chennai.
On the domestic market front, Renault India plans on launching an AMT and a more powerful 1L variant of the Kwid this year. One of the above mentioned variants will be launched by June 2016, Mr. Sawhney said.

The Renault Kwid has garnered over 125,000 bookings, and in order to cater to increasing demand and future export orders, the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in Chennai started operating a new nightshift since March 2016. The small car is priced between INR 2.62-3.67 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi.
