1L SCe engine is based on the 0.8L unit.
Renault India's awaited launches this calendar year include the Renault Kwid 1L and the Renault Kwid AMT, both of which made their debut at the Auto Expo 2016. Speaking to Business Standard, Mr. Sumit Sawhney, Renault India's CEO and Managing Director, confirmed that "at least one of these variants should be available within the first half of the year".
Currently, only the Maruti Alto K10 is available with an AMT in this segment, whereas the Hyundai Eon is available with a more powerful 1L engine, but is constrained to a manual option. The AMT variant of the Renault Kwid will use the more powerful 1.0-liter three-cylinder SCe petrol engine, though the specifications of this unit remain unannounced.
The 1L SCe unit is based on the 0.8L engine of the current Kwid, which was developed from the ground up. It delivers an ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of 25.17 km/l, making it more fuel efficient than the Maruti Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon.
