Production increased in March to reduce waiting period.
Livemint reports that Renault has received around 125,000 orders for the Renault Kwid since its launch late last year. Renault hopes that the increase in production will lower the long waiting periods for new customers.
The Renault Kwid is expected to face real competition once the Datsun redi-GO launches. Expected to be priced lower than the Kwid, the redi-GO will ride on the same CMF-A platform and source the 0.8-liter SCe engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Renault India plans on launching the Kwid 1.0-liter and the Kwid AMT variants later in the calendar year. They were showcased at the Auto Expo last month, and will appeal to people looking for more power, safety features, and easy drivability from the hatchback.
