List of new car and bike launches in April 2016 – IAB Picks [Updated]
Aravind Jayachandran, I'm a huge petrolhead, an automobile engineer, a massive fan of Ferrari, and loves collecting die-cast models for inspiration.
Based on reports and confirmations from manufacturers, here is a list of cars that will go on sale across India in the month of April 2016.
Bentley’s first SUV, the Bentley Bentayga, will have its Indian launch on April 21, 2016. Power comes from a 6.0-liter W12 twin-turbo engine.
Hyundai Creta Petrol AT:
Hyundai has launched an automatic variant on the Hyundai Creta Petrol, and has also included the 6-speed AT on the Creta diesel S+ variant. Prices are still awaited though.
Hyundai Grand i10 Special Edition:
According to a report, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) will launch a special edition on the Grand i10 in April, to celebrate 20 years of the company’s presence in the Indian market.
Mahindra Nuvosport (April 4):
Mahindra has confirmed that their replacement of the Mahindra Quanto will launch on April 4. Dubbed the Mahindra Nuvosport, it features a front-end that drops the Xylo-inspired look for a more rugged, butch design.
It is based on the structurally rigid Mahindra Scorpio platform, and is likely to be powered by the 1.5-liter mFalcon engine from TUV300. A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard, while a 5-speed AMT is available as an optional extra.
Datsun redi-Go (April 14):
While it cannot be considered as a market launch, the production-spec Datsun redi-Go will make its world premiere on April 14. It will be the second product to ride on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-A platform, and is reported to be positioned below the Renault Kwid, with respect to pricing.
Spyshots reveal a design that is basically a filtered down version of the redi-G concept from the Auto Expo 2014. Like the Renault Kwid, the Datsun redi-G will feature black plastic cladding and a raised ground clearance for a crossover-esque look. It’s likely to be powered by the 0.8-liter SCe engine from the Renault Kwid that is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
2016 BMW X1:
Though the price announcement and unveiling of the new 2016 BMW X1 took place at the Auto Expo 2016, BMW has announced that customer deliveries will start in April. The new X1, now based on the front-wheel drive UKL platform, is available with 4WD drivetrain in India.
Customer deliveries of the Honda Navi are slated to begin in April 2016. The Navi uses the same 110 cc engine from the Honda Activa and is priced at INR 39,500, ex-Showroom, New Delhi.
TVS Apache RTR 200 4V:
While the market launch of the new Apache took place in January, deliveries are scheduled to commence only from April 2016. The Apache RTR 200 4V is available in carburated and fuel-injected variants, with and without ABS, and option of Pirelli or Remora tyres.
Tata Tiago (April 6):
Update – The Tata Tiago will have its market launch on April 6.
The launch of the Tata Tiago has been delayed yet again. New reports suggest that the Tata Tiago will finally go on sale in mid-April, although this hasn’t been confirmed by the manufacturer. Dealerships have started accepting bookings from March 10.
The Tiago is Tata’s newest entry-level hatchback that slots between the Tata GenX Nano and Tata Bolt. The design is based on Tata’s Impact design language, and measures 3,746 mm in length, 1,647 mm in width, 1,535 mm in height and 2,400 mm in wheelbase.
Engine lineup will include an all new 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron engine that produces 85 PS and 114 Nm and a 1.05-litre three-cylinder Revotorq engine that develops 70 PS and 140 Nm. A five-speed manual transmission comes as standard.
