Based on the Scorpio's platform.
Post an image leak earlier in the month, Mahindra today announced and released the first images of the Mahindra NuvoSport, it's all new compact SUV which would replace the slow-selling Mahindra Quanto. The company has also announced its launch for April 4, 2016.
Interestingly, the NuvoSport is not based on the Xylo's platform, but according to the carmaker uses the "same new generation platform as the Scorpio". Described to feature "bold and aggressive styling", the NuvoSport is expected to be priced and positioned below the Mahindra TUV300.
It has been designed and developed in-house by the Mahindra design team, and the research and development of the vehicle was carried out at the Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) in Chennai. Further details or specifications have not been shared.
Spyshots have confirmed the NuvoSport with an automated manual transmission, which is likely to be a 5-speed unit. In addition to the AMT, the Mahindra NuvoSport will also offer a 5-speed manual gearbox. Mahindra would likely replace the Quanto's 1.5-liter three-cylinder 100 PS engine with the TUV300's modern 1.5-liter three-cylinder 84 PS unit.
